Read this before you install

  1. Open it once and allow it. macOS will say it "could not verify" the app — the builds are not signed by Apple yet. Click Done, NEVER "Move to Bin"/"Move to Trash". Then open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom, and click Open Anyway.
  2. If Open Anyway is not there. Some macOS versions never show that button. Open Terminal and run: xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/GlitchRecord.app — then open the app normally.
  3. Grant the permissions. Say yes to Screen Recording, Accessibility and Microphone when asked, then quit and reopen the app. Without Screen Recording every recording comes out blank.
  4. Get the Chrome extension from inside the app. On the Home screen, the "This machine" card has a Get Chrome extension button. It downloads the extension built from this exact release and opens the folder — load it at chrome://extensions with Developer mode on. Do not install it from anywhere else.

Permissions on a Mac

Grant Screen Recording and Accessibility once — GlitchRecord keeps them when it updates. If macOS asks again after an update, remove GlitchRecord from both lists in System Settings → Privacy & Security and add it again; switching it off and on is not enough. The app cannot update itself on a Mac for the same reason — use Check for updates on the Home screen, then come back here.

On Windows (beta)

The installer is not signed, so Windows shows Windows protected your PC. Click More info, then Run anyway. The Windows build is new — if recording, export or the Chrome extension does not work, use Report Bug on the Home screen and say you are on Windows.

Filing a bug

In Chrome, press ⌘⇧G (Ctrl+Shift+G on Windows) on the page with the bug — the extension attaches a screenshot and your last steps. For a bug in GlitchRecord itself, use Report Bug on its Home screen.

Not notarized by Apple — macOS and Windows warn you on first open. The steps above get you past it.
