Send the bot to a call

Not every call is on your calendar. You can send the Glitchgrab recording bot to any Google Meet call yourself — by pasting the link on the Calls page, or with one click from inside Meet.

Before you start

• A Google Meet link (https://meet.google.com/abc-defg-hij).
• The project the call belongs to — you must own it or have Context access (see Add team members and give them access). QA testers can record into the projects assigned to them.

Option 1 — paste the link on the Calls page

1. Open Calls in the left sidebar. It opens on the Calls tab.
2. In Send bot to a call:
   • paste the Meet link (https://meet.google.com/abc-defg-hij),
   • optionally type a Call name,
   • pick the project.

3. Press Send bot (Sending…).
4. You will see Bot is joining — admit it in the meeting.

In the Meet call, someone must press Admit when the bot knocks. Everyone will see it as a participant — that is your record the call was recorded.

Option 2 — from inside Meet (Glitchgrab extension)

Needs the Glitchgrab Chrome extension, in the same Chrome profile where you are signed in to Glitchgrab — as an owner, a team member or a QA tester.

1. Join the Meet call in Chrome. A round Glitchgrab button appears next to the hang-up button.
2. About a second after you join, Glitchgrab asks Record this meeting? — Glitchgrab sends a bot to record and transcribe the call. Pick the project it belongs to.
3. Search with Search projects… and pick the project.
4. Press Start recording.

Other choices in that window:

• Don't record — nothing happens.
• No project yet — record now, file it to a project afterwards on Calls. Not offered to QA testers: a tester always picks one of their projects.

If it asks you to sign in

You see Sign in to record this call — Glitchgrab isn't signed in on this browser, so it can't send the recording bot — when the extension cannot find a Glitchgrab sign-in in this Chrome.

1. Press Sign in. Glitchgrab opens in a new tab. If you are already signed in — including as a QA tester — it goes straight to your dashboard, and that hands your sign-in to the extension.
2. Not signed in yet? Sign in on that tab: testers at glitchgrab.dev/login → Tester, or with their QA link.
3. Go back to the Meet tab. Don't reload the call — the Glitchgrab button picks up the sign-in by itself within about half a minute, then asks Record this meeting?.

It has to be the same Chrome profile the call is in — a sign-in in another profile or browser does not count.

Not now closes the prompt. To sign in later, click the Glitchgrab button.

Follow the bot from the Meet button

Hover the Glitchgrab button to see where it is:

• Sending the bot… → Bot is joining the call… → Bot is knocking — admit it in Meet → Recording · <project> → Finishing up — uploading the recording → Recorded · <project>
• Bot is still waiting to be admitted — someone needs to press Admit.
• Bot never reported in — it may not be able to reach Glitchgrab — send it again, or try option 1.
• Bot failed: <reason>

Filed to the wrong project? While it is recording, hover the button and click the right project under Record this call to — the recording moves there.

Messages

• That doesn't look like a Google Meet link — paste the full https://meet.google.com/… address.
• Pick a project you have access to.
• Pick a project — unfiled recordings need a signed-in account — you are signed in as a QA tester, and a tester's recording always goes into a project. Pick one of yours.
• Already recording this call to <repo> / A bot is already on that call — it is already there.
• Could not send the bot — try again in a moment.
• Timed out waiting to be admitted to the meeting — nobody pressed Admit within 10 minutes. Send it again and admit it. The failed call stays in the list — clear failed calls with select N failed → delete N (see Read a call's transcript).

After the call

The Send bot to a call card is hidden if you have no projects you can record into.
